When Jessica Hall saw a position vacant
advertisement for a store assistant at Bowral Pets
and Aquarium about three years ago she knew it
was the job for her.
And it wasn't long before she proved she was the
right person for the job.
In fact, the young assistant retail manager of the
pet store was recently honoured in the National Pet
Industry as the Customer Service Person of the Year
As far as Jessica is concerned the award doesn't
change the way she approaches her work, but it is a
"great accolade for a job I love".
She said she was surprised to learn of her success
after her boss, pet store owner Jeremy Maitland
secretly entered her in the annual awards.
"I was on holidays at the time and came back
to work to learn that I had won the top honour,"
Jessica said loving her job was probably the
key to her success.
"I think if you enjoy what you do, then you
do it well," she said.
"I have always loved animals and this job
enables me to connect with people who also
love their animals.
"It's about selling animals and helping
people with inquiries about pets - I think that
enables me to connect with customers on a
more personal level."
And as far as Jessica is concerned,
working with a great team of staff at
Bowral Pet's and Aquarium "makes the job
all the more enjoyable".
Meanwhile, ongoing training has been imp
Jessica's ability to deliver a well-informed service to customers.
She has completed a Certificate II in Animal studies at TAFE and will
soon study a Certificate IV in Retail Management.
