Where did you vacation? Thailand, Dubai, Turkey, Syria,
Jordan, Egypt, Athens and the Greek Islands, England, France,
Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic,
Germany, Holland and Belgium.
Why did you choose these destinations? Some places
were included partly by accident and convenience, but
most were places I had read about and dreamt about visiting
my whole life? Viv's Travel Bug was able to help me put
together a very exciting itinerary.
What was the most memorable part of your trip? There
are almost too many to mention, although being able to visit
places and see things in person that I have learnt the history
of throughout my entire life is imprinted in my memory
forever; like the Pyramids and the Sphinx, the Ei el Tower, the
Louvre, the Coliseum, Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel. I
loved both the Austrian and Swiss Alps and the Greek Islands.
And to see the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie and where
Hitler lived and died; fascinating! Not to mention Big Ben,
Westminster Abbey, the London Bridge, and so much more!
What was the most unique vacation attraction (or what
were the highlights for you?): I felt a distinct a liation with
the Middle East and Egypt. Turkey was a country lled with
diversity, uniqueness and beauty. In Jordan we visited Petra,
swam, or rather oated, in the Dead Sea, climbed Mount
Sinai and spent a night in a local Bedouin camp in the Wadi
Rum desert, surrounded by nothing but sand and enormous
rock formations under a blanket of the most glorious stars. And
of course Egypt, where we saw the Pyramids and the Sphinx
and visited 3000 year old temples, explored the Valley of the
Kings, and oated down the Nile for two days on a felucca.
Now that's something I will never forget. Lauterbrunnen in
Switzerland was the most beautiful place I have ever seen.
Paris, Barcelona, Santorini and Ios, Berlin and London were
other highlights, lled with history and all with their own
unique atmospheres and attractions.
What would you change if you did this trip again: Nothing
at all! The highs and lows, of which there weren't many, are
what made the trip what it was: brilliant!
Where to next: In a few years I am going to get my UK
working visa and move to London to work and travel more.
Scandinavia and Russia, Canada and New York, and South
America are also on my "to do" list. n
